Student Beta Testers & Focus Groups
During the summer of 2011, about 60 students in the TLC .XL Summer Bridge program became beta testers of My PCC. Accounts were created for these students and by the third week of July, several sessions of student focus groups were held to solicit their feedback. These sessions were held in a “think-aloud” style where students were asked to use My PCC with an evaluator present and to verbalize their experience while doing so. Another technique used was to ask the students to act out a particular scenario, such as “Where would you go on My PCC to register for classes?”. All of these sessions were audio-recorded and annotated by evaluators. Much of this feedback was immediately used to update My PCC in areas students found to be confusing or difficult to use or understand.
Training & Roll-out
Just before the beginning of the Fall 2011 semester, My PCC training sessions were held. Staff and Faculty were invited to one training seminar and First-Year Pathway students, who at the time were attending Math Jam, were introduced to My PCC in 2 separate hour-long sessions.
